Kathryn Personette

Deputy Director of Campaigns

Katy Personette joined the PA Budget and Policy Center as an organizing associate for the We The People-PA (WTP-PA) campaign in April 2020. She worked on organizing efforts within the campaign, such as hosting community conversations and candidate forums with current and running candidates prior to the 2020 General Election and presenting issues from the WTP-PA agenda, including raising the minimum wage and adequately and equitably funding K-12 education. This work also involved discussion of COVID-19 relief, hazard pay for frontline workers, and systemic racism. Katy also was a part of the efforts to secure more than 150 WTP-PA endorsers, including current legislators and running candidates. She organized press conferences with these endorsers in several regions across the state to publicly stand with WTP-PA to push progressive policies through the halls of the Harrisburg Capitol. In December 2020, Katy accepted the new role of deputy director of campaigns with PA Budget and Policy Center and couldn’t be more excited for the opportunity!

Katy graduated from Kutztown University in 2012, majoring in anthropology and minoring in sociology. She made a career in the corporate world but soon realized that was not where her heart was and made the transition to the humanities nonprofit sector at the end of summer 2019 as a statewide community health organizer for PA Health Access Network.

Katy is a self-described advocate and activist for women’s rights and progressive issues, volunteering for many political campaigns, including Senator Bernie Sanders in 2016 and 2020. She is involved in her community as a member of her local area Democrats and a board member of her homeowners association. Katy loves baseball and enjoys binge-watching shows on Netflix, Zoom calls with her friends (in the time of COVID), cuddling with her dog Nova, and spending time with her husband whenever she gets to close her laptop!
