A budget is a moral document; it is a statement of our values and priorities. We The People – PA seeks a budget that works for everyone, Black and White, Latinx, Asian, rich and poor, native-born and immigrants. The goal of this event was to look at the challenges faced by our state government in meeting the needs of our people not just in this difficult time but beyond it. We believe the beginning of the solutions to these challenges can be found in Governor Wolf’s proposed 2021-2022 state budget, which we support. This interactive event looked at the governor’s budget in the context of a broad, long-term vision for Pennsylvania that lifts up all working people. We envision a People’s Budget process that brings our voices into the process of state budget-making so that WE can advocate creating a state budget that works for all of us. Topics of discussion: Fair Housing, Fair Funding for K-12 and Higher Education, Minimum Wage, and Fair Taxation. Originally recorded: Thursday, April 8, 2021.
