The Right Choice for Giant Eagle and Western Pennsylvania

Prior to the 1980s, Giant Eagle provided family-sustaining careers to its employees. Over time, however, the company shifted to the low road- franchising stores that remained non-union, slashing real wages in half or more, and increasing their reliance on part-time workers with lower wage rates. This report lays out our plan for a shift back to the high road, starting with Giant Eagle implementing a $15/hour wage, and honoring their workers’ basic freedoms to organize and bargain collectively.
