Reform, Not Repeal: Pennsylvania Can Provide Property Tax Relief and Protect Public Schools

This Reports and Research Papers examines the roles between property taxes and public education in Pennsylvania. Eliminating school property taxes, as some lawmakers propose, would harm Pennsylvania‰’s public schools,
and would be a radical step unjustified by the facts. Instead, lawmakers should ensure that property taxes
are applied more uniformly, and provide targeted tax relief for seniors and working families with higher than-average property taxes.
